Looking to explore creativity. Working to expand professionally.

Hi! I’m Katie, based in Tokyo, Japan. When I was in college, I majored in Information Systems, and minored in Web Development and Marketing.

During college, I was our Desire2Learn Ambassador, responsible for evangelizing our newly adopted learning system to students and professors, with social media, videos, tutorials and workshops.

After graduation, knew I wanted to use what I learned in school professionally, but didn’t know all the options available to me, or how to make that work.

I started my professional career as a UX Developer at General Motors, utilizing CSS, HTML and Javascript to create well thought out webpages and applications.

Eventually, I moved to Tokyo and shifted my career to Quality Assurance where I was responsible for ensuring our products were free of defects, pointing out design flaws, and advocating for accessibility.

During that time, I was also our Communications Lead for Women @ Indeed, where I engaged with our APAC W@I community - curating newsletters detailing events, updates and seasonal changes, managing calendar events and engaging our workplace through social channels.

I moved back to the United States and continued my Quality Assurance career at Calendly, continuing to promote bug-free products and designs through testing and collaboration, and conducting accessibility audits.

There, I co-founded and co-led our Access @ Calendly belonging group, for those with disabilities or people who may be neurodivergent. Acting as co-chair encompassed many responsibilities, but namely planning and creating quarterly events, promoting the events through social channels, creating slide decks for meetings and company onboarding, and engaging with our community through fun discussion, surveys, and trivia.

Throughout my career journey, I have taken an interest in design, and have taken multiple courses, created content for projects and learned new skills.

I’m now back in Japan, looking for an opportunity that utilizes my unique skillset and background!
